With the activation of technology in Brazil, experts point out that the network will change the way people and companies relate to the internet.
A study recently carried out and released by GfK points to very promising data for the 5G smartphone industry in Brazil. According to the survey, which was carried out between January and May 2022, sales of devices compatible with the fifth generation network increased by 230%.
The result presented by the analysis company is somewhat surprising, since until the beginning of 2021, few alternatives of 5G compatible devices were available in the national market, as explained by Felipe Mendes, general director of GfK for Latin America, and that all models available in the country at the time were classified as premium.
However, since last year’s Black Friday, held in the second half of the year, several intermediate models were launched on the market, in a price range more attractive to consumers, as they ranged from R$1,700 to R$2.500. thousand.
For Mendes, the devices with more democratic prices heated up the market, increasing the demand for smartphones compatible with the fifth generation network. In the first half of 2021, the average price of a cell phone with 5G was close to R$5,350. In the same period of 2022, with the expansion of the portfolio of brands, prices began to fit more into the pocket of Brazilians, said the executive.
The specialist also pointed out that the strategy of launching products that have some novelties at a high price has the main focus on the public that is very connected to technology, and that this behavior is used all the time in the market. Since, some time later, the tendency is that the same products launched with somewhat high prices become more accessible, with a good reduction in cost for the consumer to increase their presence in homes.
A practical example of the increase in the supply of 5G-compatible devices was recently disclosed, because 65 devices of different brands and models were approved by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) in the country.
Advantages of the fifth generation network
Earlier this month, real 5G, the one that operates in the 3.5 GHz band, was finally activated in Brasilia. With this, those who have devices compatible with the technology will be able to experience higher internet speeds.
With the activation of technology in Brazil, some industry experts point out that the fifth generation network will change the way people and companies relate to the internet. A simple example is video calls, where consumers should not have connection problems when making them using the mobile network.
Furthermore, the expectation is that people will be able to download or upload large files without any problem, even in distant regions. According to Tim, 5G can offer internet with speeds ranging between 1 and 10 Gbps. With this, it will be very easy for Brazilians to perform virtually any task in the digital environment, from shopping in an e-commerce, watching a video or simply having fun with the games of the best online casinos in Brazil. Since these platforms have rooms with live dealers, and a high speed and low latency internet undoubtedly improves the user’s gaming experience, who will be able to experience the game tables with greater likelihood on their cell phone or computer screen.
A study commissioned by IDC Latin America points out that 84% of Brazilians believe that 5G will bring positive impacts and will transform the way they access the internet. The study also points out that 22% of respondents said they will migrate to a 5G plan within a year, while 42% said they will have to migrate in another period or are still not sure if they will actually make the switch.
34% of respondents report that they have recently switched devices and cannot purchase another device anytime soon, 39% reported that they are still satisfied with their smartphones even if they do not support the new technology. 22% indicated that they did not adopt the new generation devices only for financial reasons, as they believe that the plans offered by the operators and that include the fifth generation network must have an additional cost.
