Executive won the title of president emeritus of the entity; ceremony brought together some of the main names in the market
Gilberto Leifert received this Thursday (25th) the title of president emit of Conar (National Council for Advertising Self-Regulation). The tribute took place during the Plenary Session of the Ethics Council, at the entity’s headquarters, in So Paulo.
Leifert was the first executive director of Conar, in 1980, and left the position in 1985 to occupy one of the directorships of MPM, one of the main advertising agencies in the country at that time.
The executive then returned to Conar in 1990, as a member of the Superior Council, representing Abert (Brazilian Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters), also integrating the entity’s board, a condition he maintained until 1998, when he was elected president. He was re-elected nine times. In 2018, he joined the Board of Governors as former president.
Gilberto’s years in the presidency were one of intense renewal of self-regulation and Conar. Interaction with consumers multiplied, advertising practices were reinvented a few times, many pressures from society, in search of more inclusive advertising, demanded active and determined action, said Sergio Pompilio, the entity’s newly elected president.
