It seems that it is increasingly difficult to do external scenes of series in the United States because of the violence. Just this month, I said here about the shooting and bombing on the set of the series Justified: City Primeval, in Chicago. And now new threats have been made against the Lady In the Lake, in the city of Baltimore. The series, starring Natalie Portman, is an Apple TV Plus production. Filming even came to a halt this past weekend. This after the producers decided to “sin for prevention” after receiving a threat.
The police department confirmed that a group of people had contacted the producers. These were working on a shoot on Park Avenue at 4 am last Friday. This is an area of downtown Baltimore. The group threatened to return the following night to shoot someone if they didn’t cancel the production. And they even told the producers that they would have to pay the group $50,000. This was so they would allow filming to continue. It was then that those responsible for production decided to paralyze everything. And they are looking for a new location.
Do que trata Lady in the Lake?
Lady in the Lake began filming in April. They are expected to continue through Fall (our spring). It is an adaptation of Laura Lippman’s book of the same name. The action takes place in Baltimore in 1966. A murder changes the life of Madeline Schwartz (Natalie Portman). She is looking for something more meaningful in her life. With that, she ends up collaborating with the Baltimore police in the case of a girl who was found dead. That lands him a job at a local newspaper as an investigative journalist. In her new work, Maddie looks for interesting stories to make her mark on the world. That’s when she ends up crossing paths with Cleo Sherwood. This is a hardworking woman and involved in many projects. She is especially committed to advancing the city’s progressive and black agenda.
The screenplay is by Dre Ryan, from The Man in the High Castle. In addition to Natalie Portman, the series stars Moses Ingram (Obi-Wan Kenobi). She replaced Lupita Nyong’o. Other actors in the series are Y’Lan Noel, Mikey Madison, and Brett Gelman.
