The transition, according to the holding, will open up business opportunities for its global customers
WPP announced this Thursday (1) that it has acquired Newcraft, a consultancy that is considered the leader in e-commerce data in Europe. The transition, according to the holding, will open up business opportunities for its global customers.
The purchase of the consultancy is the group’s second move in just over a month in e-commerce territory. In mid-July, it announced the acquisition of the Brazilian company Corebiz as a way to expand its operations in electronic commerce in Latin America. The company was connected to VMLY&R Commerce.
Founded in 2007 and headquartered in the Netherlands, Newcraft supports organizations in making change, achieving growth goals and also in mastering digital capabilities.
The company, made up of a team of 155 people, will join Wunderman Thompson’s global network, complementing the commerce and marketing services teams in Northern Europe.
According to the statement, the transaction seeks to strengthen WPP’s digital commerce capabilities and reflects continued investment in its offering to customers as consumer needs continue to change.
“As we continue to invest in growth areas, Newcraft’s vast experience in transforming the digital offering of some of Europe’s leading companies will further strengthen our global commerce proposition and drive results for customers,” said Mark Read, CEO of WPP
Last year, the group was recognized as a leader in commerce services by the Forrester Wave, managing more than $40 billion in direct GMV (gross volume of goods) and $20 billion in market GMV for customers.
