It may be that a lot of people don’t know, or don’t remember the series Doctor Quinn. It was shown on SBT with the subtitle of The Woman Who Heals, in the 90s. It had six seasons, unfortunately not available on streaming. It was set in the old west. Michaela Quinn (Jane Seymour) is the 5th daughter of a wealthy Boston doctor. She defies the conventions of post-Civil War society, following in her father’s footsteps. After he dies, Michaela moves to the border town of Colorado Springs. But citizens are not at all happy with the idea of a woman being a doctor. As she struggles to gain their trust, her life gets even more complicated. Especially with her relationship with Byron Sully (Joe Lando), and the unexpected responsibility of having to take care of three orphaned children.
I love this series – and the two telefilms that were made afterwards. I even have all the DVD’s, which I bought in the United States (it was never released here). The chemistry between Jane Seymour and Joe Lando is one of the best I’ve seen in series couples. The two have been great friends since the series’ time. So much so that from time to time they get together with their families. The good news now is that the two will be teaming up again for a Lifetime Christmas TV movie. Can not wait!
And the story?
The movie will be called Christmas Spark (Something like Christmas spark). The production is by singer Toni Braxton. According to the synopsis, Jane is a drama teacher, who was recently widowed. She then decides to visit her daughter for Christmas, and has no idea what will happen to her. That’s because, reluctantly, she ends up agreeing to direct the town’s Christmas play. And she soon ends up taking an interest in Hank (Joe Lando), the most eligible bachelor in the place. As the two fall in love, she discovers new feelings. And that’s going to be important when she has to take the stage and shine for the first time in her life.
The film will be part of Lifetime’s Christmas schedule, but the date has yet to be announced. Looking forward to it!!
