Santander, the Banco do Gamer in Brazil, will grant 30,000 free scholarships to contribute to the development of the esports (electronic sports) scene in the country. To celebrate World Gamer Day, which takes place on August 29, the institution will launch the Santander Game PRO program, in partnership with CNB Esports, one of the most traditional e-sports clubs in Latin America, with free courses that will offer learning from League of Legends (LoL) and Valorant games, as well as a module aimed at those who want to become a streamer.
The program has three learning paths, where you will have a specific amount of scholarships for each. There will be 20 thousand for LoL, 5 thousand for Valorant and 5 thousand bags for streamers, aimed at those who want to become a professional in the content broadcast market. The course trails will be applied online within the CNB Esports platform, which has a selection methodology in stages to ensure the choice of the best candidates and a high rate of talent utilization.
Santander Gamer Pro is intended for people over 16 years old, with an interest in the area of games and streamers. To participate, it is not necessary to have a degree or be studying for a degree. To register, simply access and register with Bolsas Santander. Nicolás Vergara, executive superintendent of Santander Universities in Brazil explains that the scholarships are a gateway to a promising job market. “The gaming universe is rapidly growing and is increasingly presented as a profitable professional option and not just a ‘hobby’. We hope with these scholarships to support those who wish to follow these professions that are – and must remain – on the rise.”
Initiatives such as the Santander Gamer Pro consolidate Santander as a bank that aims to promote gamer culture in Brazil. “Our entry into the world of esports comes from our performance at Free Fire, through mentoring projects to train new content creators with Twitch.
In 2021, we innovated by creating a virtual outfit within the game that was exhibited within an SPFW fashion show”, emphasizes Danielle Sardenberg, Santander Executive Marketing Superintendent. She emphasizes that Santa – the nickname given to the Bank by the gamer community – is already in the minds of several Brazilian gamers due to actions aimed at raising awareness and engaging the community to build a culture of electronic sports in Brazil.
Carlos Fonseca, founder of CNB Esports, highlighted:
“We have been promoting the esports scenario in Brazil for over 20 years, always looking to provide opportunities for players who want to evolve and reach the highest level, and this partnership with Santander will further enhance this work.”
Cleber Fonseca, co-founder of the club, added:
“As a player in my teens, I know how important it is to have content and opportunities like this to evolve in this new career. The community can only win.”
To close the series of actions for e-sports enthusiasts, Santander will hold a Live of more than 3 hours to promote and consolidate the day august 29 as a symbol date for the gamer community. With the main content creators in the gaming world, a special broadcast full of promotions, fun dynamics and lots of gameplay will take place on Santander’s Youtube channel.
Santander will sponsor an exchange of young people who got a scholarship playing Fortnite
Matheus Guimarães Montenegro, 20, saw his skill in the Fortnite game as a life-changing opportunity. The young man was approved in 28 universities in the United States for his performance in one of the most popular games of the moment and chose to join the esports team at Oklahoma Christian University, where he won a 75% scholarship in the computer science course.
However, as classes start in early August, he had until the end of July to save about R$82,000. Knowing the situation, Santander decided to fully sponsor his studies, with a 4-year contract for him to complete his degree at the American university. “Matheus is an example of a young man who pursued his dream and saw in the gamer universe a way to transform his life for the better. The purpose of our support is to facilitate your experience in becoming a better person, professional and player”, concludes Danielle.
