A Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and the City of Rio de Janeiro, announced this Wednesday (29), the creation of the Brazilian Football Museum, which will be installed in the former headquarters of the Automvel Club do Brasil, on Rua do Passeio, in the Center.
The partnership will also include the installation of the Training Center for Women’s Football and referees, in addition to the transfer of the CBF Academy to Barra da Tijuca, in the West Zone.
The CBF has land in Barra where the idea is to create a super training center for referees and women’s football, which is increasingly important in our country. And bring the Brazilian Football Museum to the city center, in a city hall property, said the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes.
For the installation of the museum, the municipality will grant the property in the Center and the sports entity will donate its entire collection, currently on display at its headquarters in Barra da Tijuca, in the West Zone. Work on the former Automvel Club do Brasil building has already begun and R$36.3 million will be invested.
The museum is now spectacular and is restricted to the CBF building, in Barra, without many visitors. Bringing him to the Center will expand the universe of people who can get to know him and who will benefit from this change are Brazilian fans, highlighted Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the CBF.
The revitalization project also includes the implementation of telecommunications infrastructure; fire and panic system; in addition to implementing an air conditioning system and accessibility services, with the implementation of an elevator. The end of this stage is scheduled for December 2024.
During the meeting between the city’s mayor and the president of the CBF, a partnership was agreed to create a Training Center for women’s football and referees, on the entity’s land, in Barra da Tijuca. The CBF Academy will also be transferred to the location.
We are going to create a National Referee School on the land that the CBF owns in Barra to standardize refereeing and also to host our women’s football. And we are going to install the CBF Academy, to increasingly train the management of Brazilian football, concluded Rodrigues.
CBF Transform
And it doesn’t stop there! CBF announced the launch of the ‘CBF Transforma’ program. It will finance projects for the development of Brazilian football in partnership with state federations and clubs.
CBF Transforma follows well-known football initiatives, such as FIFA (Fifa Forward) e CONMEBOL (CONMEBOL Evolution). The program will invest R$200 million over the next three years, part of which was obtained from the sale of two CBF aircraft, negotiated by the current management.
I am honored to announce the launch of CBF Transforma, the Brazilian football development program, which aims to enable investments in strategic projects throughout the Brazilian territory, in close partnership with affiliated Federations and for the benefit of the entire football ecosystem, said Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the CBF.
According to the CBF, the project’s mission is to promote sustainable growth in football across four main pillars:
- Transform the Game: investments in competitions, training of athletes, coaches and referees and protecting the integrity of the sport;
- Transform or Spectacle: improvement of stadium infrastructure;
- Transform the Organization: incentives for staff training and evolution of management practices;
- Transform Society: projects to encourage amateur football, initiatives with socio-educational impact and those related to the protection of human rights.
As for women’s football, over the next three seasons, more than R$5.5 million will be invested to create 54 new grassroots women’s tournaments. Since 2022, the CBF has been collecting data to obtain a complete diagnosis of the stage of football development in the different states of the country.
