Devices will be available on June 18, with no expected launch in Brazil, with starting prices of US$999.
A Microsoft announced a new category of computers, Copilot+ PCs, which incorporate advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. This initiative comes at a time when the company seeks to stand out in the race to adopt AI in its products, competing with technology giants such as Alphabet e Apple.
The revelation was made by Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, during an event at the company’s campus in the city of Redmond, located in the state of Washington.
The new Copilot+ PCs, developed in partnership with Acer and Asustek Computer, will have starting prices of US$999 (approximately R$5.1 thousand at current prices) and will be available from June 18th. These computers stand out for their ability to perform more AI tasks locally, without the need to connect to cloud data centers, which provides greater efficiency and speed.
One of Copilot+’s innovative features is “Recall”, which tracks activities carried out on the computer, from web browsing to voice conversations. This detailed history is stored on the device, allowing the user to search and retrieve information from past activities, even months later.
Betting on AI capabilities as a competitive differentiator in its new Copilot+ computers, Microsoft expects to represent around a fifth of all PC sales, which, according to research by Gartner, saw a 15% drop in global shipments this year. past, totaling 242 million units.
Integration and Superior Performance
In addition to the new PCs, Microsoft also revealed significant improvements to Windows 11, optimized to better integrate AI features. Copilot+ works as an assistant that controls various functions of the operating system, initially available on the new generation of Surface notebook. Partners like SamsungHP, Acer and Asus will also launch products with this technology.
According to Microsoft, devices equipped with Copilot+ have 25% better performance than MacBook Air with an M3 processor, in addition to 20% longer battery life. Copilot+ laptops require specific hardware, including a 256GB SSD, an integrated neural processor (NPU) and 16GB of RAM, twice the initial capacity of the MacBook Air. Models with Qualcomm’s X Series chip promise up to 15 hours of browsing on the Internet.
The launch of Copilot+ and improvements in Windows 11 mark an important step in Microsoft’s strategy to integrate artificial intelligence more deeply and effectively into its products.
Brazilians who are excited to have the Surface in their hands will have to wait, as unfortunately there is still no forecast for the model to be sold in Brazil.
