This Monday morning (14), Twitter was alarmed by a scene from the film “How to Become the Worst Student in School”starring big names like Fábio Porchat and Danilo Gentilli, available on Netflix, who suffers accusations of pedophilia.
Still, the film was released in 2017 but is only now facing a wave of criticism. The scene in question boils down to Porchat’s character asking for masturbation as a conflict resolution for two children who would be fighting.
The internet was quite divided on the situation. On the one hand, outraged netizens claim that the film is normalizing pedophilia and blame Netflix for keeping it in the catalog. On the other hand, people claim that the scene is a criticism based on satire, being decontextualized to attack the platform and take the focus away from other problems that Brazil is currently facing.
Check out the reactions:
Silvio Santos’ daughter, Daniela Beyruti, demonstrated her protest against the film and Netflix, saying: “Disgusted with whoever wrote it, disgusted with whoever produced it, disgusted with whoever directed it, disgusted with whoever acted! How to deal with something like this? Pedophilia! Sexual abuse! Abuse of authority! How perverse. That sad.”
