Robert Eggers’ new film The Northman won its first trailer today, December 20th. The trailer was released on social media and tells more about the new production of the acclaimed director of The Witch. In addition to showing more about the story, the film also showcases the looks of some cast members such as Anya Taylor Joy and Willem Dafoe.

In addition to Anya Taylor Joy and Willem Dafoe, already known for working with Eggers, other big names can be seen in the film’s cast. Among the big actors who star in the production are Nicole Kidman, Alexander Skargard and Ethan Walke. Singer Bjork is also part of the film.
As for the film’s plot, although not much is known about it, it is possible to note some elements already mentioned before and reinforced by the trailer itself. In the story, which is speculated to have its origins in the 10th century, one brother kills the other out of envy and the son of the murdered man seeks revenge.
Robert Eggers built his recent career with 2 horror films marked by breaking away from the conventional. Unlike the most recent choices that productions in the genre have taken, the filmmaker chooses to escape the formula. With more authorial productions and with less of the famous “jump scares“, Eggers has made its name in the market.
The Northman premiere in Brazilian cinemas is scheduled for April 22, 2022.
