Official broadcaster of American Football in Brazil, ESPN and Star+ presented the lookalike of the sport’s biggest star, Tom Brasa. The action aims to promote the current season of competition in the country, with the biggest football cliché: the lookalikes of football players.
The look-alike market is huge. Thus, the channel has selected a team of influencers that are successful because of their appearance: Eigon Oliveira (@sosiadoney), Nicanor Ribeiro (@sosiadorei10), Leonardo Gonçalves (@gabigoldafavela), Eder Gomes (@sosiadosalah) and Valderino Alves (@sosiadoronaldinho ).
Choosing the lookalikes as spokespersons for the sports- and humor-loving audience helps to present football in a light-hearted way. The idea is to draw a parallel with the local culture to generate greater identification and interest among people in the sport, which has been growing here in Brazil.
The presentation even had the special participation of Fernando Nardini, ESPN Brazil sports narrator. The Brazilian version of the American football legend was revealed with a commemorative party and barbecue in episode 4, entitled “O Eslhodo”. And don’t think it was easy to be chosen as the player’s look-alike.
Among dozens of candidates nominated on social networks, only 3 finalists were selected and had the chance to prove their skills in a round of tests, in the best knockout style. Finally, Marcelo Taporosky was chosen to represent the greatest American football player with the lookalikes of football stars.
